Classic Teen Patti uses one fixed set of rankings. The variations change either the rankings or the cards that count, and that changes which hands are worth betting on. Here are the ones you will meet most often, in apps and at family games.
Muflis: the lowest hand wins
"Muflis" is a Hindi and Urdu word for a poor or penniless person. In the card game it means the rankings are turned upside down: the weakest hand in classic Teen Patti becomes the best.
That gives this order, best first:
| Rank in Muflis | Hand |
|---|---|
| 1 | High card |
| 2 | Pair |
| 3 | Colour |
| 4 | Sequence |
| 5 | Pure sequence |
| 6 | Trail |
The best possible hand is 5-3-2 in mixed suits. It is the lowest high-card hand that is not a sequence (4-3-2 would be a run) and not a colour. The worst hand is a trail of aces, A-A-A.
Between two high-card hands, compare the highest card first, and the lower one wins. 7-4-2 beats 8-3-2 in Muflis, because 7 is lower than 8.
Betting, blind play and side shows work as in the classic game. The blind, seen and side show rules apply without changes.
Joker: one rank becomes wild
After the deal, one card is turned face up from the deck. Every card of that rank is a joker for the round. If a 6 turns up, all four sixes are wild.
A joker can stand for any card you need. With 6♣ K♥ K♦ and sixes wild, you have a trail of kings. Some tables use two face-up cards, which doubles the number of wild cards.
AK47: four ranks are wild
AK47 works like Joker with the wild ranks fixed in advance. Every ace, king, four and seven is wild. That is 16 wild cards in a 52-card deck, so almost every hand holds at least one.
Expect strong hands. A plain pair, which wins plenty of classic rounds, is weak at an AK47 table, and trails turn up all the time.
Lowest joker and highest joker
In lowest joker, the lowest card in your own hand is wild. With 3♠ 9♦ 9♣, the 3 becomes a third nine and you hold a trail. Highest joker uses your highest card instead.
These variations reward hands with one very low or very high card plus a pair, so you will see many more trails than usual.
999: closest to 999 wins
999 drops the normal rankings completely. You arrange your three cards into a three-digit number, and the number closest to 999 wins.
In the usual rule, aces count as 1, cards 2 to 9 count as their number, and tens and picture cards count as 0. With 9♥ 9♠ 4♦ your best number is 994. With K♣ 9♦ 8♥ it is 980, because the king counts as 0 and goes last.
Tables do not always agree on ace and ten values, so check the rules screen in an app or agree them at home before the deal.
How wild cards change your betting
The classic hand odds stop applying once wild cards are in play. A few adjustments help:
- Treat every hand as weaker than it would be in the classic game. A pair that would be worth a raise at a classic table is often worth a pack here.
- Count the wild cards you can see. Each one in your hand, or face up on the table, is one fewer that another player can hold.
- In Muflis, a hand with any card above 10 is rarely worth a big bet.
Most game apps, Teen Patti Master included, run several of these as separate tables. The lobby changes with updates, so check what your build offers. Our Teen Patti game guide has the classic rules and the full ranking table.
Frequently asked questions
What does muflis mean in Teen Patti?
Muflis is a Hindi and Urdu word for a poor person. In Teen Patti it is the variation where rankings are reversed and the lowest hand wins.
What is the best hand in Muflis?
5-3-2 in mixed suits. It is the lowest hand that is neither a sequence nor a colour. The worst hand is a trail of aces.
What cards are wild in AK47?
All aces, kings, fours and sevens. That makes 16 wild cards in the deck.
How does the 999 variation work?
Each player arranges their three cards into a three-digit number. The number closest to 999 wins. Usually aces count as 1 and tens and picture cards count as 0.

Rarely. Wild cards make trails and sequences common, so a plain pair is one of the weaker hands at these tables.
